Lithium triborate crystal (LBO)

Lithium triborate crystal (LBO) is a kind of nonlinear optical crystal with excellent performance. It has the characteristics of good ultraviolet light transmission, high optical damage threshold and moderate nonlinear coefficient. In addition, the crystal has stable chemical properties, high mechanical hardness and easy deliquination, which is very attractive for some nonlinear optical processing. Because the birefringence of LBO crystals is smaller than that of BBO crystals, it helps to limit the spectral range of phase matching, but also results in non-critical phase matching and large receiving angles in frequency conversion applications of visible and near-infrared light.

Main advantages of LBO crystals:

Wide transmittance band range (160-2600nm);

The optical uniformity is good (δn≈10-6/cm), and the internal envelope is small.

High frequency doubling conversion efficiency (equivalent to 3 times of KDP crystal);

High damage domain value (1053nm laser with pulse width of 1.3ns can reach 10GW/cm2);

Wide receiving Angle, small discrete Angle;

Class I and Class II non-critical phase matching (NCPM) have a wide band range.

Spectral non-critical phase matching (NCPM) is close to 1300nm.
